Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 6, 2026 · Last updated: October 6, 2026 · Version 2026-10-06-1

Applies to the Fluenxi website (fluenxi.app) and the Fluenxi application on Android and iOS (collectively, the "Service")

This is a short, plain-language summary of how Fluenxi handles your information. Because Fluenxi is a keyboard, the short version matters: we don't store what you type, and we tell you exactly who else sees it.

Fluenxi only sends text when you tap a translate or writing button. It never collects your other keystrokes, your clipboard, your contacts, your location, or voice recordings.

01

Who We Are

Fluenxi is operated by Krishan Kulasinghe, doing business as Fluenxi ("we," "us," or "our"), an independent sole proprietorship. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and applicable data privacy legislation, Krishan Kulasinghe is the data controller responsible for your personal information.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Fluenxi website (fluenxi.app) and to the Fluenxi mobile applications on Android and iOS (collectively, the "Service"). You can reach us by email at hello@fluenxi.app.

02

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run Fluenxi:

  • Text you submit: Text leaves your device only when you tap a translate or writing button. Before anything is sent, the app checks it for common personal details (such as email addresses or card numbers) and stops the request if it finds any. We do not store the text you submit.
  • Keyboard Full Access: The keyboard needs network access ("Allow Full Access" on iOS, internet permission on Android) only to send the text you choose to translate. Fluenxi does not log or send your keystrokes, typing history, or clipboard.
  • Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and a sign-in identifier. We also keep your account status (used to apply usage limits) and which version of our Terms and this Policy you accepted. We collect no payment details.
  • Usage information: Non-content details such as character count, tone, and language, used to apply fair-usage limits. Never what you typed.
  • Device and security information: Your IP address and device and account identifiers, used to prevent abuse and enforce usage limits.
  • Advertising: If you watch a rewarded ad, Google AdMob processes your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and device information. On iOS, you're asked for permission first and can decline.
  • Crash reports: Technical error details, with message content removed.
  • Support and waitlist: Your email address and message if you contact us, or your email address if you join the waitlist.
  • Website: No advertising or tracking cookies. We use cookieless page-view analytics, one functional cookie (fx_site) that remembers your chosen regional site, and a theme setting stored only in your browser.

Sensitive information: AI features are turned off in fields that apps mark as password fields, and our filter blocks common sensitive details. Both work on a best-effort basis, so please don't submit passwords, payment cards, health data, or other confidential information.

03

How We Use and Share It

We use your information to provide and secure the Service, enforce usage limits, diagnose errors, and communicate with you about your account. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for advertising beyond the AdMob processing described above.

AI processing

Text you submit is translated and corrected by Google Gemini through Google's paid API. Under those terms, Google does not use your text or the results to train its models. Google may keep them for a limited period only to detect abuse of its service (Gemini API terms, Google Privacy Policy).

Service providers

We share information only with the service providers we rely on to run Fluenxi, and only as needed for the task each one performs:

  • Google (Google LLC): Gemini for AI processing, Firebase for sign-in and app security checks (Firebase privacy), and AdMob for rewarded ads (how Google uses advertising data);
  • Cloud hosting and database providers, which run our servers, database, and website;
  • A crash-reporting provider, which receives technical error details with message content removed;
  • An email delivery provider, which delivers support requests to us and waitlist emails to you.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy terms and only on our instructions. You can ask us for the current list of providers at hello@fluenxi.app.

Lawful Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), we process your personal data under the following legal bases pursuant to Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Performance of a Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Translating and correcting the text you submit, signing you in, and applying your usage limits.
  • Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Diagnosing crashes and keeping the app stable; protecting the Service against bots, fraud, and abuse, including app integrity checks and rate limits; keeping our servers secure and healthy; flagging unusual usage for manual review; responding to support requests you send us; and keeping a record of which version of our Terms and this Policy you accepted.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): Delivering rewarded video ads and processing associated mobile advertising identifiers through Google AdMob, where required under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR (obtained prior to ad display); and storing your email address if you join the waitlist. You can withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before you did.

We may also disclose information where legally required, to comply with a valid legal request, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights and safety of Fluenxi and our users. Because we don't store submitted text, we can't produce it in response to any such request.

If Fluenxi is transferred to a company we form, or is merged, acquired, or sold, your information may be transferred to the new operator as part of that transaction. We'll notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

04

Data Retention

We keep as little as we can, for as short a time as we can. We never retain the text you submit on our servers.

On our servers

WhatHow long we keep it
Text you submitNever stored. Google may keep it for a limited period for abuse monitoring only, as described in Section 3.
Translated results (cache)About an hour, then deleted automatically. We cache the translated result only (not the text you typed) to speed up repeat requests.
Usage metadata (character counts, tone, language, latency)While your account is active; deleted when your account is deleted.
Account profile (such as your display name and email address)While your account is active; deleted when your account is deleted.
IP addressesNot stored.
Device identifiers used for abuse preventionDeleted 90 days after that device last contacts our servers.
Support messagesKept in our support inbox only as long as needed to resolve your request.
Waitlist email addressDeleted as soon as you use the unsubscribe link.

On your device

Recent translations are cached on your device, including the text you submitted and its translation, so they work offline and load instantly. Entries are deleted after 30 days, and when you sign out, switch accounts or delete your account. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data also removes them.

When you delete your account

When you close or request deletion of your account, your personal data is queued for immediate deletion and permanently purged from active production databases and automated rolling backups within 30 days, except where limited records must be retained to meet statutory legal obligations. To delete your account in the app or by email, see Delete your account.

05

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we don't retain the content of your submissions, these rights apply mainly to your account information and usage metadata; we can't hand over text you've typed, because we don't have it.

To exercise any right, email hello@fluenxi.app. We'll respond within 30 days, and may ask you to confirm your identity first. You can also delete your account at any time from Account settings in the app, or by emailing us; deletion is permanent and completes within 30 days across all active production databases and backup archives. If you're in the EEA, UK, or a US state with a privacy law, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, see Section 10.

Advertising choices: You can limit how your advertising identifier is used at any time from your device settings. On Android, go to Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads) to delete or reset your advertising ID. On iOS, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turn off tracking for Fluenxi. Rewarded ads keep working, but they will no longer be personalised.

06

Children's Privacy

Fluenxi is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children. It is not intended for anyone under 16 (or the higher minimum age that applies in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below that age. If you are under the legal age of majority where you live, you may use Fluenxi only with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child below the minimum age has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

07

Security

Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Submitted text is never written to persistent storage on our servers, so it can't be exposed by a breach of our database. Access to production systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. Please keep your account credentials and device secure.

If a data breach affects your personal information, we'll notify the relevant data protection authorities and, where the breach is likely to put your rights at risk, notify you without undue delay, as applicable law requires.

08

International Transfers

Fluenxi is available worldwide, and we and our service providers process data in several countries, including the United States and the European Union, as described in Section 3. Your information may therefore be processed outside your own country. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or the equivalent UK addendum with our providers.

09

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Every revision carries a new version identifier and updated date at the top of this page. Where a change is material, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice through the app or by email before it takes effect. This Policy is published in English; where a translation is provided, the English version prevails in case of any conflict.
